OUR
COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR
GARY JENNINGS
Born: February 13, 1955
Morristown, Tennessee
I
lived most of my early years in
East Tennessee and New Mexico. My father was a miner and
worked in the zinc mines in Tennessee and uranium mines in New
Mexico. My mother was a stay at home mom most of her married
life. I have 2 younger brothers - 1 in Orlando Florida area
and the other in Mooresburg TN. As a
youngster, I seemed to have a knack for sports but particularly
football. I played from 6th grade until 9th grade. I
took a couple of years off when my parents passed and resumed my
senior year of high school. I was fortunate enough to earn an
athletic scholarship to play quarterback for East Tennessee State
University where I lettered 3 years and earned a bachelors degree in
Business Administration.
I was again blessed to meet my
future wife Debra at ETSU. We were married in August of 1979
and have been together now for 42+ years. We have 2 sons -
Justin who is a professor at Wake Forest University and Jordan who
is a partner in a media firm in Los Angeles CA. As of this
writing, we have one amazing grandchild - James Gray Jennings.
I moved our family to
Greensboro from Johnson City TN in 1985. We were transferred
to Knoxville from 1988 to 1990 and transferred back to Greensboro in
1990. I've worked in the Information Technology field for
Kayser-Roth Corporation, Hanesbrands, and XPO Logistics. I
began playing golf in college and immediately fell in love with the
game and have been playing regularly since. I was a member of
the Bryan Park Men's Golf Association for 25+ years and joined the
Bryan Park Senior Men's Golf Association in 2021. I was
honored to have been asked to join the BPSMGA staff as
Communications Director before my first tournament!
