Born
and raised in northern Wisconsin. Grew up in a small town
(roughly 8,500 people) about 90 miles south of Lake
Superior. If you ever heard the stories of students walking
to school when it was 30 degrees below zero, I was one of
them. The oldest of 3 boys and a sister being the
youngest. Dad worked for the Federal Government with the
Federal Housing Agency for home loans. Mom was a stay at
home Mom.
Graduated
from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in 1977. Upon
graduation was hired by National Presto Industries (Presto) and
transferred to Chicago where I met my better half. Promoted
to Omaha, NE in 1978, then to Greensboro, NC in 1982. Left Presto
for 17 years and was hired by Black & Decker as a National
Accounts Manager. After B & D was sold to a hedge fund,
my best friend (who was VP of Sales at Presto) hired me back for
the last 13 years of my career.
Two sons (Jason lives in GSO and Kyle in Charlotte). Both happily married and Jason with our only grandchild—Madison.
Have always loved sports. In high school as a freshman-I weighed 95 lbs. On the school roster they listed me as 100 to make me look bigger—didn’t work.
I remember when the Champions Course was under construction and you could see the work in progress. Couldn’t wait for it to open. To get a t-time you either had to wait in the parking lot--get a number or call in—they would rotate-one number-one phone call-repeat. I would phone in—919-375-2200-busy-hang up and keep repeating. A few times you would hear a voice Bryan Park—and you were so used to hanging up that you would actually hang up on the person allocating t-times.
Couldn’t wait to join the BPSMGA but had to wait until I retired because of all the traveling while working. I have so very much enjoyed bringing family and friends to this very special place to enjoy the game I love so much. So now it is my turn to pay back and hopefully be a great steward of the game and the Bryan Park Senior Men’s Association. It will be my pleasure trying to bring the best golf experience to all our members
